Hope you all had a great week!

Last Thursday, 19 exceptional inventors were inducted into the National Inventors Hall of Fame, including the founders of BLACK+DECKER, a world leader in power tools and home utility products. Our founder, Dr. Gary K. Michelson, joined this group of the world’s greatest inventors back in 2011. He was honored for his dedication to improving the lives of those afflicted with spinal ailments, which propelled him to innovate to the tune of over 950 patents worldwide. Through Michelson IP, Dr. Michelson’s mission is to equip other independent inventors, creators, entrepreneurs and students with the wherewithal to protect their inventions and creative work.

The recent make/SHIFT Makerspace Ecosystem Summit reminded us of this spirit, as educators and leaders of campus makerspace initiatives shared how they’re teaching the maker and entrepreneurial mindsets that are empowering students for success in the workforce.

We look forward to continue working with each of you to arm this next generation with the knowledge they need to capitalize on their innovations!

With gratitude,

Jelani, Mayra & Hannah of the Michelson 20MM Foundation

Teaching Intellectual Property Content – Reflections & Tips

Join us for a webinar hosted by the National Association for Community College Entrepreneurship (NACCE):

Are your students prepared to address the IP issues that they will face as professionals and business owners? One contributor to Forbes.com noted, “Early in my career, I thought IP was for the lawyers and engineers to worry about, not me. How wrong I was.”

With the aid of extensive educational content furnished by Michelson IP, Santa Monica College (SMC) has created a stand-alone IP course for the non-lawyer, and has infused IP education into a broad array of its courses. Hear from SMC professors about experiences and best practices for teaching IP both online and on-ground in the college setting.
