National Inventors Month celebrates human ingenuity and honors innovation and creativity. This May, take the opportunity to ignite an interest in learning and preserving intellectual property history.

The United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) has been recognizing inventors through the issuance of U.S. patents since the inception of the U.S. patent system and the enactment of the first patent law in 1790. Join the USPTO’s Eastern Regional Outreach Office and USPTO historian Adam Bisno to learn about the role of the USPTO historian, some fascinating facts and stories surrounding the USPTO’s rich and vibrant history, and how you can find and share intellectual property history. Register now for this special event.

Attendees will learn about:

• The role of a federal agency historian

• Good sources of invention and innovation, as well as USPTO history

• Aspects of USPTO history being researched and documented right now

• What to do if you find historic patent or trademark materials in a family collection

We hope that you will join us to develop an understanding and appreciation of the significance of one of America’s oldest government agencies.

This event is part of the USPTO’s Eastern Regional Outreach Office’s “Do You Know @USPTO” series.
